The Midland Railway 100 Ton Gun Truck
Photo of the 100 Ton Truck holding the Gun on Plemsworth in the goods siding
The gun truck shown here was modelled by an HMRS member as part of the society’s centenary of the first world war commemorations when our model Plemsworth at our study centre was used to show some wartime railway operations from that era.
The full story of the model was written up in a short article in our Jan-March 2015 Journal which is still available on this site here: Journal Jan 2015
As told in the Journal, an article in Vol 2 of Midland Railway Wagons by Bob Essery contained a photograph and a drawing of the wagon and these became the starting point for the model. There are other photos on the Warwickshire Railways website of the original on a branch out of Coventry Ordnance Depot, some of which are also reproduced in the Midland Railway Society Journal - Issue 21.
