Archives
The Archives collection contains a wide variety of original railway documents, timetables, leaflets and other material collected together over the years. Please note that the images shown on the items are representative of the section, not the actual item images. For more detail and some examples see the Introduction to the HMRS Archives.
This new category has been introduced to list the contents of our Archive collections. As a charity we want to make as much as possible of the contents of the archive available to both HMRS members and to bona-fide researchers, historians, academics, modellers and those who need access to this type of data for study and communication whether a member or not.
Our archive cataloguing is not complete as new items are regularly being added. As is the nature of most archives, this information is neither for sale nor available for loan but would be available to bona-fide researchers or historians at our Museum and Study Centre by prior appointment.
Within reason and for a copying and administrative fee, copies of some items can be created and made available to those who cannot visit. This does not mean that we can or would copy large extracts of more than a few sheets nor whole books. But some consideration of creating a copy for private research purposes is possible.
You should contact our Archivist to request any further information, to ask a question and discuss if it is possible to obtain a copy of any page or to visit to see the original.
This can be done by filling in the contact form on available on the archive ‘product’ page or by using the contact us page under the Contact menu.
You could also book a visit to the study centre when it is open.
Please see the Further Information page for details about current general society restrictions.
